Webinar Description

Setting Up a Business-Driven PMO (Project Management Office)When it comes to setting up a PMO, initially "selling" the idea to management is an approach that has caused untold damage, leading many PMOs to execution difficulties or even outright failure. While justifying the PMO is always a requirement, many organizations go about it the wrong way. Although the PMO exists to meet the needs of the business, to many PMO enthusiasts it can appear as if the needs of the business exist to meet the need for a PMO. But which one is correct?

Today's PMOs are all about achieving the business results for which they were created to serve. This webinar will discuss why you should never sell the PMO and shed light on the problems that quickly appear when a "Selling the PMO" mindset is at play. In this webinar you will learn:

            • Techniques to avoid the "Selling the PMO" mindset
            • Take a business-driven approach to the consideration of a PMO
            • The value of the PMO
            • A real life case example

Mark Price Perry Bio:

Three decades ago Mark set up his first PMO, a business unit PMO residing deeply down the IBM organization chart. Since then, Mark has been an advocate for the value of PMOs of all shapes and sizes. Not to mention the need for PMOs to be driven by the needs of the business for which they were created to serve—not merely standards, theoretical models, or the latest hype.

After a 20 year career with IBM, Mark founded BOT International in 1999, a boutique firm that pioneered the PMO Content Asset market with its product called Processes On Demand. Through his work with hundreds of PMOs around the world, his podcast called "The PMO Podcast" with 200 episodes, and his book Business Driven PMO Setup; Practical Insights, Techniques, and Case Examples for Ensuring Success, Mark has become a widely recognized "servant-leader" in the PMO domain. This book was published by J. Ross Publishing in May 2009.
